Smeared Ink Steampunk

Smeared Ink's new release blog hop
today we are showing you some of the new images available in the Smeared Ink store just in time for Christmas!

I have posted the DT blogs below this post so you can hop along and see what we have, but you may have noticed that Smeared and Smudged is also doing a 12 Days of Christmas hop, so some of these will coincide with that...so much fab inspiration for you to look at where to begin?!?!?

since your here I might as well tell you about my fabby project

here I have the new Steampunk Elf.

I used my clock mask and inked up my background then splashed some water on it to give it more of a grunge look, then I stamped "time of your life" across the top, and stamped my Happy Holiday stamp and added green stickles to the box next to "Christmas"
I colored my elf with pencils as well as his bat, cat and pressies...but with them I added liquid glass to kinda give the appearance of a shiny metal...and I think thats it...ok onto the rest of the DT members so you can see what they have for ya!

New challenge

Over at Shannon's Sentiments we are having our very first challenge! yay!!!

Each Saturday one of the DT members will post a challenge and you have until November 30th to post a link to your project to Mr Linky of each post. At the end of the month one $10 gift certificate to the Sentiments store will be given to one random winner picked from all participants each month. There will also be one free image ($3 value) given to the one player that participates the most each month. Rules: 1) You are encouraged to use an image from Shannon's Sentiments, but it's not required. (Check out the many freebies available at the store.) 2) Each player may contribute as many entries as they'd like for each challenge. 3) Blog posts must be linked back to the challenge post with your actual blog post, not your general blog link, or gallery link. 4) Your entry must be new art created for this challenge. You can combine it with other challenges.

so the challenge this week is to create a holiday card with some bling/sparkle.

here is my card...I took the rose image and printed it with just the outlines so I could color it with Christmas reds and greens, then I printed my sentiment and chalked the words and added some festive ribbon and made my rose sparkle....

now its your turn go check it out here!

gingerbread house

I was blog hopping and came across this cute idea on Paige Dolecki's blog http://www.paigespaperparadise.blogspot.com/ so I just had to make it…this is what I did

Finished size is 2.5" square with 5.5" height.

Paper Dimensions you'll need:
4x4" Brown Bag Cardstock
6x12" Brown Bag Cardstock
4.75"X4.75" Brown Bag Cardstock

1. Create the box base with the 4x4" brown bag.
- Score .75" in at all sides
- Cut slit on ONE side of each of the scored squares in the corner
- Use HEAVY DUTY adhesive (I used glue dots) in the corners to adhere.

2. Score your 6x12" at the following dimensions (starting from one side):

- 2.5", 5", 7.5", 10"

score .5" along the top edge (you will fold this down and adhere after you've embossed to make the top edge of your box sturdier!)

3. Stamp your house design in Chocolate. Note that the "front" of the house should be on the second panel - this will keep the seam away from the front of your house!

4. Add your adhesive!

- NOT SHOWN - fold down your .5" lip at the top of the house panel and adhere now. This will give the top of your box a sturdier edge.

- To build the box put adhesive on the bottom and on the side that is the last panel of your house (the smaller 2" blank edge will be folded inside).

5. Roll your box bottom along the bottom edge of your house lining things up!

- Make sure your box is squared up as you adhere your long house edge.

- When you have everything adhered gently place your hand inside and press all the edges to make sure things are stuck down good and tight!

6. Make your roof lid with your 4.75"x4.75" Brown Bag Carstock piece.

- Score at 1" on all sides and then do your stamping.

7. This is how your lid will look.

- Now cut one slit at each of the corner squares and assemble exactly as you did your box base!

8. Optional - add a bit of Chocolate ink to distress and "bake" your gingerbread.

9. Add a pretty ribbon around the whole box and you are ready for the holiday gift giving season!

This little house is just perfect for a small bag of chocolates, a couple of envelopes of gourmet cocoa, some spiced cider, some special soaps or anything else you want to present that would fit!
