beginings of a skull adventure
Due to all the fuss about the Skull Appreciation Day coming up (June 4) I was looking threw my stamps for what I have for skulls and found so many Smeared Ink ones that would work! So I busted out my As Death stamp set to play around a bit and begin my skull adventure...and here is what I came up with...it really got me in the skully mood....like I needed it ;)
For my background paper I painted it purple then smeared a black ink pad all over it. I colored my image with colored pencils then used some paint thinner to blend my colors (new technique I found) I stamped and cut out my favorite quote for this set, and lastly I made some super cool paper buttons (using parts of another as death stamp) another technique I picked up today...this one came from Creepy Glowbugg's blog.
and here is a close up of the buttons...I just love em!
and there I have my super cool card! now onto create more skull things :) be sure to stop by the forum and join us for skull appreciation Day
Stamp Insanidy Waterfall card
for my creation I made a waterfall card...I made one a while back and forgot how easy they are...and with my new Vampire stamps how could I not :)
the first stamps are from the Other Worldly Loves senti set, and the vampire is Lilith from the Devil Dolls...I just love her :)
she is colored with colored pencils, and my card base was run threw the cuttlebug.
be sure to stop by the rest of the girls in the asylum then enter the challenge for yourself.

Smeared Ink/Simply Betty blog hop
What brought this on? A mutual love for Zombies, of course! Well, that plus Simply Betty is sponsoring 2 of the Smeared and Smudged monthly Challenges. If you enter these challenges you have a chance to win Simply Betty Zombie digis! Not only that but you will get a free digi image from Smeared Ink just for participating! How awesome is that?!
In addition to sponsoring the Smeared and Smudged challenges this month, Betty was generous enough to allow the Smeared Ink DT to work with some of her zombies. Hop around and leave some love then be sure to swing by the Smeared and Smudged forum to join in the challenges!
(yes this all may sound very familiar to you but LB was on the ball and I wasn't....and she said it so beautifully!)
I got to work with the Zombie Lola, and isn't she the coolest?!? and her lil rat is oh so cute (I think his name is Louie) I colored this with my colored pencils, added some distressing ink, and toped it all off with a bottle cap with "hold me" stamped inside (senti from Smeared Ink's Grumpie stamps) I'm not sure if the hold me is Louie speaking or Lola....you decide :)
I had two reasons for adding that bottle cap..one love em and want them on everything...and two it is the junk funk challenge for this month...one of the challenges Betty is sponsoring this month...that and the Rock n Rolla challenge.

Smeared And Smudged Member hop
This month our theme was technique….we all chose something different…as you have probably seen…(you should have come here from Sugar’s blog)
For my card today I have used the Faux Barnwood Technique as I saw it on the technique junkies site.
I used one of the girls from the Chicks Dig Guns Smeared Ink Stamp set…I colored my girl with colored pencils. I just thought this image was fitting…all rustic and country looking :)
Here is what I used and did for my technique…
Materials needed:
(1) White (base) cardstock, Foam brushes, Light acrylic paint, Dark acrylic paint, Elmer’s/white school glue
(2) Paint cardstock with dark color. Make sure the paint is applied evenly (some cardstock showing threw is ok) let this layer dry completely.
(3)And then paint on a thin layer of glue. Allow the glue to dry for only a few seconds. The glue will have a milky appearance and be tacky to the touch.
(4)Then, paint on a layer of the light paint.
Note: The thickness of the each acrylic paint layer will have different effects on the final crackle, You may have to experiment to achieve the desired results while adjusting the thickness of the layers.
Here is a bit closer look at the background paper
Now off you go to the rest of the hop… your next stop is Dianne’s blog
